The Kill Blue anime announces production of its second season

The creator of Kuroko’s Basketball celebrates the second season with a special illustration of the rejuvenated hitman.

The world’s most feared hitman can’t handle high school, nor the fact that the story continues. Kill Blue announced its second season on the same day the first season’s final episode aired, the 27th of June 2026, with a special illustration drawn by Tadatoshi Fujimaki to celebrate the news.

The announcement provided no additional details about the release date, potential cast changes, or production team for the second season. Those details are expected in the coming months. What is clear is that the story of Juzo Ogami, the legendary assassin who woke up one day as a teenager and had to return to school to discover what happened, continues in the anime.

The first season premiered in April 2026, produced by studio CUE under the direction of Hiro Kaburagi. It was the studio’s first time taking on the main animation production for a TV anime, founded by DMM in 2023. The opening was performed by South Korean group aespa with the theme “ATTITUDE”, while the ending was by South Korean boy group RIIZE with “KILL SHOT”.

Kill Blue is a manga by Tadatoshi Fujimaki, the same author behind Kuroko’s Basketball, published in Weekly Shonen Jump from April 2023 until its conclusion on September 1, 2025, with 13 compiled volumes. The story follows Juzo Ogami, a legendary assassin whose name inspires fear even among his colleagues and who never failed a job, until one day he woke up transformed into a teenager with no memory of how it happened. His only option to solve the mystery is to return to the place he never imagined stepping foot in: school. The series blends thriller action with comedy arising from a veteran assassin trying to fit into the daily life of a high school student.

Did the first season of Kill Blue meet your expectations for Fujimaki’s manga, or do you expect the second season to raise the bar in action?
