To build excitement before the TV debut, the franchise prepared an aggressive strategy. Japanese fans can enjoy the first three episodes via advance screenings in ten select cinemas in Japan starting August 21. This entire production comes directly from KONAMI animation, with experienced Yūzō Satō directing and Michihiro Tsuchiya writing the scripts to condense this dense political storyline. The production team also confirmed that the universe will expand to other media with a new manga adaptation illustrated by Kochiya, which will begin publishing at the end of July.

Voice Cast

  • Jin Yamanoi (Borma in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) as Agares Blight.
  • Kōdai Sakai (Sakuya Sakuma in A3! Season Spring & Summer) as Jess.
  • Shimba Tsuchiya (Tsutomu Goshiki in Haikyuu!!) as Jowy.
  • YΕ«ichi Nakamura (Satoru Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen) as Flik.

The imminent war of Jowstown

The original story, which debuted on the first PlayStation console in 1995, follows two young friends from the Unicorn Brigade who are drawn into a violent border conflict between the powerful Highland Kingdom and the Jowstown City-States. Although a fragile peace treaty temporarily calms tensions, the embers of total war continue to smolder beneath the surface. With a successful recent remastered relaunch and new mobile games in development, it’s clear the company aims to reclaim lost ground in the industry.

Given the massive narrative weight of the original game and the sheer number of characters in its story, do you think the studio can adapt this classic without omitting crucial details for its political world?
