A fan of the popular Fate/stay night franchise surprised everyone on social media by recreating one of Saber’s most iconic visual traits in real life: her famous stray strand of hair or ahoge, all because her husband casually commented on how cute she found that detail while they were watching the series together.

Motivated by her partner’s innocent compliment, the woman decided to get to work the next morning. Using her own reddish-brown hair, she managed to style and shape a single strand to recreate the identical vertical curve that the beloved waifu has. After photographing herself alongside the classic illustration of Saber eating a hamburger, the creator admitted the hairstyle didn’t last long, as gravity brought the strand down in just one hour. Nevertheless, the precise comparison showed that even the most exaggerated elements of Japanese animation can come to life in the most romantic way possible.

For those unfamiliar with the term, an ahoge (which literally translates to “stupid hair”) is that iconic standing hair that sticks out on the heads of many anime characters. However, in the case of the King of Knights, this detail was a completely intentional design by illustrator Takashi Takeuchi. In fact, within the official art books of the original visual novel, the production team jokingly called it the “Symbol of the King.” This distinctive trait has accompanied Artoria Pendragon for over two decades in all her animated adaptations, disappearing only when the heroine transforms into her dark alternate versions.
