The emotional impact and raw drama that shook the anime world are set to make the leap to the big screen. The official website for the animated adaptation of the acclaimed manga Takopi’s Original Sin (Takopii no Genzai) released a special promotional video revealing the release date of its compilation film titled Takopii no Genzai -Arigatou, Mata Ashita-, which will hit Japanese theaters on November 27.

This cinematic release will compile the six episodes of the miniseries that premiered in June 2025, featuring additional new scenes produced exclusively for this version. To announce the project, the promotional footage reorganized scenes from the series showing a unique conversation between Shizuka and Takopi joking about the possibility of a film, marking the start of the “Project TakoP” whose updates will be revealed later. The heartbreaking story follows Takopi, a cute alien who comes to Earth to spread happiness, but upon meeting Shizuka, a fourth-grade girl suffering from depression and abuse, his well-intentioned attempts to use time-travel technology trigger devastating and tragic consequences.

An internationally award-winning production team

The anime was produced by the studio ENISHIYA under the direction of Shinya Iino (known for his work on Dr. Stone), featuring character designs by Keita Nagahara. The series gained immense prestige in the anime industry after winning the Jury Prize at the prestigious Annecy International Animation Film Festival in 2026. Meanwhile, the original manga created by Taizan 5 and published in Shonen Jump+ between 2021 and 2022 solidified itself as a true gem of the psychological genre, earning nominations for the Manga Taisho and the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize.
