Japanese video game developer SNK Corporation has recently released their financial results for the fiscal year concluding December 2025.
Although revenue saw a 10.0% increase, the company faced an operating loss of 19.9 billion yen (approximately $125.2 million USD), an ordinary loss of 21.5 billion yen ($135.3 million USD), and a net loss of 22.2 billion yen ($139.7 million USD), indicating a notable downturn compared to the prior fiscal period. For context, during the fiscal year ending December 2025, the firm recorded an operating loss of 12.6 billion yen ($79.3 million USD), an ordinary loss of 12 billion yen ($75.5 million USD), and a net loss of 12.9 billion yen ($81.2 million USD) (source: GameBiz).
Last November, SNK declared its intention to decrease its capital stock and capital reserve by 8 billion yen each, presumably to lessen its accumulated losses. Nevertheless, while this move helped boost the company’s capital, it remains in a state of insolvency. Insolvency is a temporary financial hardship and does not equate to or signify bankruptcy.
Following this, SNK secured funds via a loan from its parent entity, Electronic Gaming Development Company, amounting to $40 million USD. The loan is slated for full repayment in October 2029, carrying an interest rate of 7.28%.
