One Piece announces two new animated films for 2027 and 2029
The God Valley incident will be adapted into a film in summer 2027, and another movie will arrive in 2029.
The world of history’s most famous pirates has just dropped a bombshell that will resonate across all seas. During the closing of the One Piece Day ’26 event, the franchise confirmed that not one, but two new animated films are coming to the big screen. The first will adapt one of the most legendary and dark moments of the original manga, while the second will celebrate the thirty years of the TV broadcast.

The first big surprise is titled ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY and is scheduled to premiere in theaters in summer 2027. This film will bring the famous God Valley Incident to animation, a titanic clash that occurred 38 years before the main story where the Rocks Pirates, Roger Pirates, Marines, and World Nobles faced off on an island that was erased from the map. The date is no coincidence, as it will exactly coincide with the 30th anniversary of the manga’s debut, which began serialization in July 1997.
Celebrating three decades of the animated adaptation
The second installment will be titled ONE PIECE FILM BAAD and will arrive in cinemas in 2029 to commemorate the three decades of the animated adaptation for television that originally premiered in October 1999. Although details of this second film’s plot have not yet been revealed, creator Eiichiro Oda personally drew the title logo. Both productions mark the first feature films for the franchise since the box office success of ONE PIECE FILM RED in 2022.
