Finding a partner is already difficult, but trying to get a wife when you’re an elite poison specialist assassin takes things to a ridiculous level. Fortunately for fans of this wild mix of action and romance, the production of Marriage Toxin has officially confirmed that the series will return with a second season in 2027, accompanied by a first promotional trailer and an official image.

Following the premiere of its first season on April 7, the animated adaptation will maintain the formula that captivated viewers. Studio Bones Film will again handle the animation under the supervision of BONES, with Motonobu Hori returning as director. The scripts will continue under the direction of Kimiko Ueno, while Kohei Tokuoka will again oversee character design and general animation direction. The soundtrack will again be a collaboration between composers Taisei Iwasaki and Yuma Yamaguchi.

The story will resume the peculiar alliance between Hikaru Gero and Mei Kinosaki. Forced by his assassin clan to find an heir to prevent his sister from being forced to do so, Hikaru ends up hiring Mei, a brilliant marriage scammer he was supposed to eliminate, to become his dating advisor. Together, they will continue facing dangerous underworld assignments while trying to tackle the hardest mission of all: finding the perfect bride.

About Marriage Toxin

Written by Jomyaku and illustrated by Mizuki Yoda, the original manga began serialization in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ app in April 2022, with eighteen compiled volumes released in Japan. The work stands out for combining frenetic combat sequences between assassin clans with comedic situations about a novice learning the art of courtship.

Do you think Hikaru will find the ideal woman in this second season, or will Mei have to save the day once again?
