Dying in a dungeon is usually the end for any hunter, but for Gongja Kim it’s just the start of his journey to the top. To the delight of fans of action and fantasy stories, the popular series SSS-Class Suicide Hunter (SSS-Class Revival Hunter) has officially confirmed an anime adaptation for television, scheduled to premiere in January 2027.

The announcement came with a first promotional image and a trailer revealing the series’ tone. The production will be handled by STUDIO fu, with Hiroaki Sakurai directing, known for The Demon Girl Next Door. Sayuri Oba, who worked on Romantic Killer, will oversee the scriptwriting, while Takahiro Yoshimatsu, known for Trigun, will design the characters.

The main voice cast includes Takeo Otsuka as protagonist Gongja Kim and Satoshi Hino as the imposing Sword Emperor. With this team, the project aims to bring to screen the protagonist’s rapid evolution through the dangerous floors of the tower.

Originally a web novel by Sinnoa since November 2018, the story transitioned to a digital manhwa format with Neida’s art in December 2020. It gained huge success thanks to its unique twist in the tower-hunter genre.

The plot follows a mysterious tower filled with monsters that appears suddenly, attracting hunters seeking fame and fortune. We meet Gongja Kim, a weak rank F hunter envious of the world’s top hunter. His fate changes dramatically when he allies with the Sword Emperor and gains an S-rank ability: to activate it, he must die, allowing him to return in time and copy the skills of whoever killed him.
