The anime adaptation of Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian (Tokidoki Bosotto Russia-go de Dereru Tonari no Alya-san) presented its first teaser with real scenes from the second season during the KyoMAF event, confirming the franchise has already surpassed 5.5 million copies in circulation worldwide.

Although the new episodes were initially scheduled to air in 2026, the animation team decided to push the premiere to 2027. The reason for this delay is to ensure the highest possible visual quality following the massive success of the first season. Additionally, the production underwent an internal restructure at studio Doga Kobo: Hiroshi Haraguchi now takes the helm as director, while Yuka Yamada handles the scripts, taking over from Ryota Itoh. Yuhei Murota remains in charge of character design and chief animation direction, with Seong Min Kim assisting in direction.

The second season will resume the story directly from the fourth volume of the light novels, covering the awaited summer vacation. The video preview offered first glimpses of Masachika and Alya studying together at home, as well as the student council’s trip to a villa with a private beach, featuring swimsuits, hot spring visits, fireworks, and the inevitable emotional clash between Alya and her sister Masha. All this serves as a prelude to returning to school and the chaotic cultural festival at the academy.

The main voice cast returns unchanged, with talented actress Sumire Uesaka voicing the beautiful Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou and actor Kohei Amasaki portraying the cunning Masachika Kuze. The supporting cast includes Yukiyo Fujii as Maria Mikhailovna Kujou, Wakana Maruoka as Yuki Suou, Saya Aizawa as Ayano Kimishima, Maki Kawase as Chisaki Sarashina, and Kaito Ishikawa as Touya Kenzaki, ensuring the chemistry that captivated audiences in its debut.

Based on the light novels written by Sunsunsun and illustrated by Momoco, the series began publication under Kadokawa’s Sneaker Bunko label in 2021, also featuring a popular manga adaptation by Saho Tenamachi. The story follows Alisa “Alya” Kujou, the most coveted and strict girl at the academy, and Masachika Kuze, a rather lazy student who sits next to her. To hide her true feelings of shyness and affection for him, Alya whispers flirtatious confessions in Russian, believing no one at school understands her, unaware that Masachika perfectly understands the language and secretly enjoys her embarrassing words.
