After the broadcast of its 24th episode, the anime adaptation of Daemons of the Shadow Realm (Yomi no Tsugai) officially confirmed it will have a second season, revealing a promotional image and a first trailer that left us wanting more.

The first preview shown after the broadcast featured key characters like Yuru, Asa, Left, Right, Gabu-chan, Dera, and Hana, while also hinting at the appearance of Ivan and Misasagi, the leader of the Nishinomura faction who follows the twin protagonists. In the video, Yuru delivers a line that perfectly reflects the intrigue surrounding this adventure: don’t believe anything until you see it with your own eyes.

The first part of the series aired continuously for two consecutive semesters from April to September 2026. Production was handled by Bones Film under the direction of Masahiro Ando, with Noboru Takagi supervising the scripts, Nobuhiro Arai in character design and animation direction, and Kenichiro Suehiro composing the soundtrack.

The voice cast includes Kensho Ono as Yuru and Yume Miyamoto as Asa. Joining them are veteran actors like Yuichi Nakamura as Dera, Misaki Kuno as Gabu-chan, Takako Honda as Left, Rikiya Koyama as Right, Miyuri Shimabukuro as Hana, Junichi Suwabe as Jin, Akira Ishida as Asuma Kagemori, Shinichiro Miki as Ivan Yosano, Kappei Yamaguchi as Hikaru Kagemori, and Yoshiko Sakakibara as Kai. While the exact premiere date for new episodes hasn’t been revealed, the story’s continuation is confirmed.

This story is the latest work by Hiromu Arakawa, the legendary creator behind manga classics like Fullmetal Alchemist and Silver Spoon. The original began serialization in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan in December 2021, with over 7.5 million copies in circulation.

The plot centers on twins Yuru and Asa, born under a prophecy to separate day and night. Separated as children in a remote village guarded by two stone guardians, they are unaware of their power to rule the Daemons—supernatural creatures that operate in pairs under certain humans’ orders. Now, the siblings must unravel their destiny and find a way to reunite while facing factions seeking to control their abilities.
