If you grew up fascinated by the armor, magic, and giant robots of 90s magical girls, get ready for nostalgia. The new animated adaptation of Magic Knight Rayearth just released its second main trailer, revealing new cast members, its musical themes, and confirming good news about its broadcast: it will air continuously for six months starting next October 7.

The new video trailer allowed us to hear the opening theme titled “Otome no Tsurugi,” performed by singer Toaka, as well as the ending theme “Hoshiakari,” handled by Yurina Kawaguchi. Additionally, the production added major names to the cast. Talented Mamiko Noto will voice Alcione, while Ayumu Murase will play young Ascot, Hitomi Ueda will take on Caldina, and experienced Hiroki Yasumoto will bring Lafarga to life.

This fantastic group of actors joins the previously announced main cast, where Ayane Sakura plays Hikaru Shido, Rumi Okubo plays Umi Ryuzaki, and Rie Takahashi plays Fu Hooji. The story will also feature performances by Saori Hayami as Princess Emeraude, Yuki Ono as Priest Zagato, Mika Kikuchi as Mokona, Yuki Kaji as Mage Clef, Emiri Kato as Presea, and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Ferio.

Behind the scenes, studio E&H Production leads the animation under the general direction of Yui Miura in her debut as a series director, supported by creative production by Sunghoo Park and project supervision by UNLIMITED PRODUCE of TMS. The scripts are by Shigeru Murakoshi, while Satomi Watabe adapts the iconic character designs. For the sound, the majestic soundtrack is composed by legendary Yuki Kajiura alongside Takumi Ozawa and Shiho Terada.

Created by the famous quartet of authors CLAMP, the original work began its publication in the pages of Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine in 1993, quickly becoming an international phenomenon. The plot follows three high school students named Hikaru, Umi, and Fu, who during a school trip to the Tokyo Tower are magically transported to the world of Cefiro. Upon arrival, Mage Clef reveals that the planet is on the brink of destruction after Priest Zagato kidnapped Princess Emeraude, whose prayers maintain the place’s balance. Turned into the legendary Magic Knights, the three girls must master their elemental powers and learn to work together to save Cefiro.
