Being stripped of your position at the imperial court and imprisoned in a dungeon sounds like a nightmare, unless your previous body was so frail you couldn’t even walk. The animated adaptation of Though I Am an Inept Villainess (Futsutsuka na Akujo de wa Gozaimasu ga – Suuguu Chouso Torikae Den) officially confirmed that its second cours, focused on the real departure arc, will premiere in January 2027. The announcement came with a new promotional image and the reveal of voice actors joining the story.

For this new stage of the story, the production announced the addition of renowned talents. The acclaimed actor Yuichi Nakamura will take on the role of Keikou, Rerien’s older brother, while Shunichi Toki will voice Keishou, the second brother of the family. Meanwhile, Chiaki Kobayashi will lend her voice to Unran, the young leader of a village key to upcoming events.

This second part will continue what was presented during the first half aired starting July 2026. The animation continues under the production of the renowned studio Doga Kobo with the direction of Mitsue Yamazaki. Supervision and scriptwriting remain handled by Yoshiko Nakamura, while Ai Kikuchi is in charge of character design and Yukari Hashimoto composes the soundtrack. Additionally, the series features the opening theme “Sunny” performed by the singer-songwriter milet, and the ending theme “Shooting Star” by the musical project Rokudenashi.

About Though I Am an Inept Villainess

Born as a series of light novels written by Satsuki Nakamura and illustrated by YukiKana, the work began its publication under Ichijinsha’s label in December 2020, also featuring a popular manga adaptation illustrated by Ei Ohitsuji.

The plot transports us to a China-inspired kingdom where five clans compete to send their maids to the imperial court in hopes of crowning the next empress. Among them stands Kou Reirin, the beautiful and ill butterfly of the court who seems to have her marriage to the crown prince secured. Everything takes a turn when Shu Keigetsu, known as the court rat, attacks her during the lantern festival to swap bodies via magic and steal her place. To everyone’s surprise, Reirin awakens in the dungeons happy and full of energy, enjoying for the first time in her life a healthy body that not even the threat of execution can ruin.
