Monochrome Corporation and Good Smile Company have revealed the upcoming action RPG DAWNGAZER, scheduled for a 2028 release on PC (Steam), PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
DAWNGAZER marks the inaugural title from IGNISPHERE Studio, a development studio helmed by Takafumi Noma, a veteran of Vanillaware. Noma is widely recognized as the director and character designer of 2024’s Unicorn Overlord, and he also contributed to the creation of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Dragon’s Crown Pro, and Odin Sphere Leifthrasir. After departing Vanillaware in March 2025, Noma has been crafting games under the banner of Monochrome Corporation.
While specifics about DAWNGAZER are currently scarce, an accompanying teaser showcases a medieval fantasy town setting and provides a glimpse into the game’s artistic direction and characters. The soundtrack is being composed by Yoshimi Kudo, who previously worked on Unicorn Overlord and Elden Ring.
Monochrome Corporation, responsible for the planning and development of DAWNGAZER, is a Japanese firm active in both gaming and anime production. The company released the tactical RPG Grand Kingdom in 2015 via publisher Spike Chunsoft, and its recent endeavors include Dusk Index: Gion and SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered. Additionally, Monochrome Corporation is credited with second key animation for the Witch Hat Atelier anime and 3DCG assistance for Medalist.
To commemorate its 15th anniversary, Monochrome Corporation has partnered with publisher Good Smile Company to introduce the new IP IGNISPHERE. With DAWNGAZER serving as the first game in this initiative, the two companies aim to construct an expansive original fantasy universe called the Ignisphere, featuring multiple nations and races. The IP will further expand into other media, including figures and several light novel series published by Kadokawa.
DAWNGAZER is slated for a 2028 release on PC (Steam), PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2. The game will support English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. Further updates will be shared via the official Ignisphere X account.
