The paranoia, betrayals, and high-tension mind games are far from over. Just one day after episode 26 ended a continuous six-month broadcast, the official page for the animated adaptation of Liar Game announced the second season.

The announcement came with promotional art by character designer Kei Tsuchiya. The main voice cast reacted enthusiastically. Actress Saya Hitomi, who plays Nao Kanzaki, thanked the opportunity to return as the protagonist, while Takeo Otsuka, the voice of brilliant Shinichi Akiyama, promised intense recording sessions for the upcoming psychological battles. Joining them were comments from You Taichi as Yuji Fukunaga and Natsuki Hanae as the ruthless Norihiko Yokoya, who hinted that the next games will be filled with memorable moments.

The project will maintain the solid quality of the first season under the production of studio Madhouse. General direction will continue with Yuzo Sato, alongside Asami Kawano for episode direction, while Tatsuhiko Urahata will oversee series composition and scripts. Kisuke Koizumi will lead sound direction to sustain the claustrophobic and suspenseful atmosphere that captivated viewers during the two continuous blocks aired since April.

About Liar Game

Created by mangaka Shinobu Kaitani, known for acclaimed works like One Outs, the original Liar Game manga began in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump in 2005 and ended in 2015 with 19 volumes. The series briefly returned in 2026 with the miniseries Liar Game: The Last Game, concluding the print franchise with a 20th volume. Before the anime adaptation, the story already inspired successful live-action TV series, films, and a stage play.

The plot follows Nao Kanzaki, an overly honest university student who suddenly receives a suitcase with $650,000 and an invitation to the Liar Game. This underground tournament forces participants to deceive and steal from each other to avoid lifelong debt. Cornered by her naivety, Nao turns to Shinichi Akiyama, a brilliant ex-con artist, forming an unlikely duo to survive their opponents’ deadly traps.
