Japanese indie label room6 and developer Chosuido have dropped a teaser for the follow-up to their highly praised visual novel, Ghostpia Season One. Dubbed Ghostpia Season Two, the project has been in the works for a while, but this marks the first substantial glimpse into the game.
Ghostpia Season One centers on Sayoko, an outsider who finds herself stranded in a snowbound town. The town’s inhabitants are equally peculiar. Unable to die, they refer to themselves as “Ghosts” and strive to build what they consider an ideal utopia for their kind. However, Sayoko is neither a Ghost nor part of the town. Inspired by the arrival of a new Ghost named Yoru, she hatches an escape plan, hoping to return home.

The game’s art style, described by the developers as “denshi” (“electric” or “digital”), blends children’s book-like visuals with glitchy and static effects. Despite its initially cute appearance, the game delves into darker themes. Based on the Season Two teaser, the sequel appears to retain the original’s Denshi aesthetic, complete with distorted effects. Sayoko’s bloodstained look hints that her journey will take an even darker turn this time around.
Ghostpia Season One bundles the game’s first five episodes, four of which were made available for browsers and mobile devices. The fifth episode was exclusive to the Nintendo Switch version, released in 2023. All five episodes are playable on Windows and macOS via Steam (a free demo is also accessible on the platform).
Ghostpia Season Two is currently in development.
