Gotoubun no Hanayome on alert: Fans warned about fake account stealing identities

If you’re desperately looking for any updates on your favorite quintuplets, be careful where you browse. The massive popularity of Gotoubun no Hanayome (The Quintessential Quintuplets) has led some malicious users to exploit the community’s loyalty. Recently, the production committee had to issue an urgent warning to protect followers from a sophisticated social media scam already confusing thousands.

A too convincing deception

Through its official channels, the team behind the anime issued a statement clarifying a critical situation. It turns out someone created a fake Instagram profile posing as the franchise’s corporate account, meticulously copying logos, names, and using images to appear extremely legitimate. The issue escalated to the point that creators had to be blunt: currently, there is no official series account on Instagram.

The community reacted with great gratitude to this clarification. Several fans admitted in forums they were almost taken in by the scam or were already following the account, as these fake profiles often try to replicate verification badges. The real danger of these accounts is that they spread rumors, unconfirmed information, or, worst of all, promote pirated merchandise via deceptive links.

The price of a giant franchise

Unfortunately, this is one of the biggest problems successful Japanese series face today. While hundreds of profiles are created by genuine fans who only want to share illustrations and support the protagonists, identity impersonators operate solely to profit from false information. The production team urgently requested that any news, animated project, or merchandise announcement be checked exclusively through their official website or established media.

Knowing how easy it is to fall for these visual scams when we see our favorite characters in an app, have you ever followed an anime account believing it was official, or do you always check that information comes from the real animation studios?
