Uma Musume: Fans can now donate to celebrate real horses' birthdays

One of the most fascinating aspects of the huge Uma Musume Pretty Derby franchise is the deep respect between players and the animals that inspired their favorite characters. We constantly see the community channeling their love for the horse girls into the real world, and the famous Japanese retirement ranch Versailles Farm has just opened a new way to channel that generosity. Taking advantage of several equine legends celebrating another year of life, the facilities launched a birthday donation program that will allow fans to directly sponsor these retired athletes.

A gift directly to the racetrack legends

The mechanics of this program are quite accessible and will be open until May 31. Interested parties can make a one-time contribution of three thousand yen, equivalent to about nineteen dollars, choosing the specific animal they wish to support. Among the celebrants this month are historic names that game fans will immediately recognize, such as the 27-year-old veteran Tanino Gimlet, as well as Rose Kingdom, Jono Bohemian, and Hiruno d’Amour. The money raised will not stay in a symbolic fund, but will be entirely allocated to the daily care of the animals, covering essential expenses like special food, stable maintenance, and continuous medical attention.

The facility administrators explained that this is an excellent alternative for people who cannot commit to constant financial support but want to make a genuine difference in the lives of these champions. As a token of appreciation for their noble contribution, each donor will receive an exclusive mobile wallpaper featuring a photo of the horse they chose to sponsor, creating a nice digital memory of this special bond.

A community united by animal welfare

This is not the first time the player group has demonstrated its immense organizational power for charitable causes. The community’s history of good deeds is truly admirable. Earlier this year, fans sold out pieces of the fence wood that Tanino Gimlet often destroys with his kicks, and even raised over four hundred thousand dollars to build a fourth stable that significantly improved living conditions at the ranch. In the past, they also sent tons of fresh grass to feed Haru Urara and restored the tomb of Mejiro Ardan in Chinese territory.

Knowing that this model of sporadic donations helps sustain the costly care required by a horse in its old age, do you think the developers of Uma Musume Pretty Derby should integrate an official option within the app so that a percentage of purchases goes directly to the retirement sanctuaries in Japan?
