The Eccentric Doctor of the Moon Flower Kingdom to get anime adaptation

Studio Elle will animate this gem where advanced medicine clashes with the empire’s conspiracies.

Prepare for another protagonist related to medicine. Publisher Kadokawa has confirmed that The Eccentric Doctor of the Moon Flower Kingdom (known in Japanese as Gekkakoku Kiiden) will get its own TV anime series. The announcement was made on May 22, coinciding with the manga’s volume 15 release, and included a commemorative illustration by creator Toru Himuka.

The production committee has confirmed the main cast:

  • Rina Hidaka as Koyo.
    Known for voicing Filo in The Rising of the Shield Hero and Silica in Sword Art Online.
  • Takeo Otsuka as Keiun.
    Known for voicing Aqua Hoshino in Oshi no Ko and Jinshi in The Apothecary Diaries.
  • Taito Ban as Shingdam.
    Voiced Sung Jinwoo in Solo Leveling.
  • Shoya Chiba as Shiei.
    Voiced Kiyotaka Ayanokoji in Classroom of the Elite.

Scalpels, political intrigue, and Studio Elle’s magic

Studio Elle, under the direction of Koichiro Kuroda, will handle the animation. Scripts are by Risa Mizuno (pen name Aki Mizuki), while Akira Ono designs the characters. The soundtrack is by Shiho Terada, known for the Precure franchise.

Synopsis of The Eccentric Doctor of the Moon Flower Kingdom

The story is set in the exotic Moon Flower Kingdom, where medicinal baths are the ultimate treatment. During a regional inspection by Prince Keiun, a young woman named Koyo performs an advanced surgery, capturing his attention. Their fates become intertwined as they face dark conspiracies, absurd superstitions, and entrenched imperial traditions threatening their country.
