Japanese indie developer USAGI STORE has made available a complimentary Steam demo for its forthcoming 2D horror adventure game Dawn Bell. Alongside the demo launch, the creators also revealed the game’s release date, which is set for June 23.

In Dawn Bell, players take on the role of an amnesiac girl who awakens in a strange castle. With no recollection of her past, you’ll gather items and clues to solve the mansion’s numerous puzzles and piece together your identity. During your exploration, you’ll meet an amnesiac boy who teams up with you and aids in your quest. As you delve deeper into the castle, your decisions will shape one of four possible conclusions.

The castle’s interior design is deliberately unsettling, featuring gloomy libraries filled with nightmarish beings and corridors lined with walls that seem to watch your every move. The horror atmosphere is further amplified by the characters’ expressive facial animations (powered by Live2D technology) and eerie soundtracks.

Completing Dawn Bell and uncovering all endings will take roughly 90-120 minutes, making it a relatively brief experience. Nevertheless, the blend of puzzle-solving mechanics, horror elements, and the lingering mysteries about the castle and its inhabitants should keep players engaged as they search for every clue.

Dawn Bell will be available on Windows (Steam) starting June 23. A free demo is currently accessible on the platform as well.
