Players of the newly launched Onimusha: Way of the Sword demo have noticed that the title lacks the intense difficulty the franchise is famous for, as highlighted in several discussions. In response to this feedback, producer Akihito Kadowaki expressed gratitude to those who participated in the demo and addressed the concerns regarding its difficulty settings.
Kadowaki explained that the demo was crafted to cater to a broad audience. The demo’s segment, set in Kiyomizu-dera, occurs early in the narrative, and the version of Miyamoto Musashi featured is equipped with numerous abilities, some of which are typically unlocked later in the game. While this approach effectively showcases Musashi’s capabilities, it’s clear that a character with late-game powers can effortlessly overcome early adversaries, even on the tougher “Action” difficulty.
Kadowaki reassures fans that the full game will present more formidable standard Genma enemies and bosses, presumably adjusted to match player skill and progression. Beyond the enemies’ health and damage output not being particularly taxing, their overall aggressiveness in the demo is another concern, especially when confronting multiple foes.
Given the array of skills available in the demo, the tougher challenges in Onimusha: Way of the Sword are expected to keep players engaged and encourage experimentation with various demon-hunting strategies.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is scheduled to launch on September 25 for Windows (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A free demo is accessible on all platforms.
