After facing challenges in 2025 that left fans concerned about its future, Princess Maker: Children of Revelation has recently received a substantial content update, indicating positive development progress from the team behind it.
Originally crafted by South Korean studio D-ZARD under an official license from Gainax, Princess Maker: Children of Revelation marks the first new mainline entry in the Princess Maker series since 2007. Following a successful crowdfunding drive, the game launched into Early Access on Steam in July 2025, with plans for a full release in the first half of 2026. However, the project encountered a halt around September 2025, when D-ZARD announced the transfer of development to an external partner.

Coinciding with this announcement, South Korean media revealed that the studio had undergone significant restructuring and ceased work on all its projects, resulting in layoffs of development staff. Despite assurances from the company that it would fulfill its commitments and complete the game, delays in planned updates and the game remaining in an incomplete state for an extended period caused its Steam rating to drop to βMixed.β
In January 2026, it was revealed that development would resume through a new collaboration with developer GEAR2. However, this was followed by a period of silence on Steam. On June 29, GEAR2 delivered a major update for the game, reassuring players of their dedication to finishing it and meeting expectations.
In the new version 0.9.5, Princess Maker: Children of Revelation extends the child-raising period to 8 years, up from the previous 4 years. Additionally, the game now features eight characters for relationship building (compared to two previously), and the number of endings has grown from around 20 to 53, including 44 career endings and 9 relationship endings. With numerous other additions such as meal management, new activities, dresses, and explorable areas, the game has made significant strides compared to its earlier Early Access version. Its recent Steam reviews have improved to a βVery Positiveβ rating.

In a brief FAQ, the developers clarify that the game is not yet fully completeβthey intend to continue refining and expanding it before its final release from Early Access. While versions for other platforms like the Nintendo Switch are under consideration, the developers do not have a confirmed timeline yet, as their immediate focus is on completing the game.
Princess Maker: Children of Revelation is currently available in Early Access for PC (Steam).
