It’s been a little over two months since Japanese indie developer DigitalCats launched its social media deduction game Demons’ Timeline. Since then, the game has sold over 10,000 copies and earned an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating following recent reviews on Steam.
Demons’ Timeline puts players in the role of a cyber detective known as L. As L, you navigate the fictional social media platform Parotter through point-and-click exploration to resolve demon-related cases (called “Paradoxes”) alongside your demon companion Nyasuteria Hakouchi and two AIs. Unlike traditional horned devils, “demons” in this game refer to humans with extraordinary abilities.
By collecting clues, you reconstruct a person’s real and online personas, including personal and alternate accounts. Once sufficient evidence is gathered, you can make a final deduction by tagging posts on the Parotter timeline.
The project was crafted by a four-member team led by Antler, whose prior work includes Unity puzzle games, VRChat mystery worlds, and adult-oriented titles. For Demons’ Timeline’s creation, they initiated a Campfire crowdfunding campaign on August 24, 2025, collecting over 1.18 million JPY (approximately $7,300 USD) within a month.
Demons’ Timeline currently holds an “Overwhelmingly Positive” Steam rating based on recent reviews and a “Very Positive” overall score. According to review data from SteamScout, 83.3% of reviews are in Japanese, followed by 7.1% each for English and Simplified Chinese.
Demons’ Timeline is available for Windows (Steam). The first chapter is playable for free via the Steam demo, with save data transferring to the full game.
