Devils’ Crest anime reveals first trailer, global premiere, and Ado’s involvement
Production I.G and Sword Art Online creator bet on a new deadly game in November.
The definitive creator of virtual reality survival games strikes again. During the Warner Bros. Japan panel at the recent Anime Expo, the production committee behind Devils’ Crest released the first promotional video for the franchise. The trailer confirmed that the animated adaptation will premiere globally on November 6 and will be exclusively distributed through the streaming platform Amazon Prime Video, ensuring massive reach from day one. It was also revealed that Japanese superstar Ado will perform the intense opening theme titled “Shinka”.

To ensure this leap to the screen meets high expectations, the project was assigned to the veterans at studio Production I.G. The role of chief director is filled by Shinji Ushiro, with Kenichirล Komaya taking charge of overall project direction. The complex composition of the series falls to Eiji Umehara, while Yukiko Horiguchi, the original illustrator of the light novels, is directly responsible for adapting the character designs. The tension and chaos of virtual combat will be backed by the original soundtrack composed by Yลซki Hayashi and Naoyuki Chikatani.
Voice Cast

- Konomi Inagaki (Serufu Yua in Do It Yourself!!) as Sawa Ashihara.
A new hell in virtual reality
Itโs impossible not to compare this premise with the previous works of Reki Kawahara, the legendary author behind industry pillars like Sword Art Online and Accel World. Originally published as a light novel in November 2022 under the Kadokawa label, the story drags an entire sixth-grade class inside the latest VRMMORPG of the season: Actual Magic. What was supposed to be a fun immersion quickly turns into a twisted survival game where giant monsters lurk around every corner and even classmates can mutate into beasts. The protagonistโs only hope, Yuuma, relies on the guidance of a demon named Valac, who surprisingly has taken possession of his own twin sisterโs body.
Given the immense weight Sword Art Online holds in modern otaku culture, do you think this new venture into virtual reality worlds will replicate that same media impact?
