The popular trope of the protagonist banished by a useless prince adds another victory to its catalog. Through the launch of its official website, the production committee confirmed that the popular light novel Shin no Seijo de Aru Watashi wa Tsuihou Saremashita. Dakara Kono Kuni wa Mou Owari Desu (Because I, the True Saint, was Banished, that Country is Done For!), written by Shikiso Utsuzawa, will have its own animated adaptation scheduled to air on Japanese television in the distant year 2027.

For fans of seeing kingdoms fall due to poor decisions, this premise will be pure gold. The story follows Eliane, a young woman who has dedicated her life to serving as the holy protector of the Kingdom of Belkheim, keeping monsters at bay with her constant prayers. Conflict erupts when a fake saint deceives the naive heir prince, who, as Eliane’s fiancé, decides to break the engagement and cruelly banish her for being a fraud. Fed up with disrespect and mistreatment, our protagonist decides it’s time to seek a quiet life as a normal girl in a neighboring nation, though an unexpected encounter on her journey will completely change her plans.

The talent behind the project

To ensure this popular franchise, which has already surpassed 1.5 million copies in circulation, receives a worthy treatment on screen, the animation was commissioned to the studio Tsumugi Akita Anime Lab. The director’s chair will be occupied by Tsukasa Sakurai, while the scripts will be handled by Naoki Tozuka. On the aesthetic side, the talented Naru Nishikori will be responsible for adapting the character designs to keep the anime’s full visual magic that captivated the community in the printed pages.
