The high-definition remaster of the romance-focused RPG, EXSTETRA, has now become available on Steam. Created by Studio Saizensen and distributed by FuRyu, the original title debuted exclusively in Japan for the Nintendo DS and PlayStation Vita back in November 2013. To celebrate its international re-release, FuRyu is offering a special two-week sale, featuring a 20% discount on the standard edition and a 14% reduction for the digital deluxe version.
EXSTETRA unfolds in Amazea, a realm where contemporary Tokyo intertwines with an alternate dimension. The narrative centers on Ryoma, a high school student suffering from amnesia who learns he is the “Prisma,” destined to rescue Amazea from an approaching catastrophe. Throughout his adventure, Ryoma meets a variety of allies—both male and female—who can assist him on his mission. By kissing these companions, Ryoma can awaken their latent abilities, transforming them into Prisma Knights.
The gameplay employs a turn-based combat system, enabling up to four Prisma Knights to engage simultaneously on the battlefield. In addition to standard moves that consume MP, EXSTETRA incorporates abilities that draw from a special resource called “EXS,” which only Ryoma can utilize. Ryoma can transfer the EXS he gathers from defeated foes to his companions through kisses, thereby enhancing their power and potentially shifting the course of combat. For those who prefer a more streamlined experience, an auto-battle feature is also available. Beyond EXS-based abilities, the placement of your Prisma Knights, their equipment, and the strength of your bonds with them all significantly influence battle outcomes.
When not engaged in combat, EXSTETRA invites players to explore iconic Japanese locales like Shibuya and Akihabara, now reclaimed by nature and infested with monsters. Players can also deepen their connections with their allies, which in turn boosts their strength.
EXSTETRA is currently accessible on Windows (Steam), with ports for the Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, along with the PlayStation 5, scheduled for a future release.
