Being forty years old, dressed in a perfect suit, and being the envy of the office doesn’t mean you can’t melt inside when you see a plush toy. The animated adaptation of the popular original manga by Tsutomu, Ojisan wa Kawaii Mono ga Osuki. (Older Men Like Cute Things), has officially confirmed its television premiere in Japan on October 4. The news came with a new promotional image and the reveal of key voice cast members.

The comedy introduces Mitsutaka Oji, a forty-year-old executive who, in the eyes of his colleagues, is the epitome of a mature, attractive, elegant, and highly efficient man. However, behind his flawless professional facade hides a secret he guards with his life: Mitsutaka has an uncontrollable obsession with small and extremely cute things. The story follows his daily attempts to hide his passion for plush toys while dealing with everyday situations where his true fanatical side threatens to surface.

LIDEN FILMS Takes the Helm of the Project

The animation for this fun series will be handled by the renowned studio LIDEN FILMS, with Tomoe Makino directing. The scripts will be written by Yu Sato, while Tomomi Kimura will lead character design and Arisa Okehazama will compose the soundtrack. The printed manga began serialization in July 2017 and is preparing the release of its thirteenth and final compiled volume in October, concluding a journey that even inspired a successful live-action series in 2020.
