The dungeon-crawling JRPG Wizardry Variants Daphne has kicked off its Final Fantasy XI crossover event, aptly named “Fantasy Castle of Deepest Dark.” This collaboration, set to conclude on September 10 at 3:59 AM UTC, brings to the table well-known characters from Square Enix’s hit MMORPG—three of whom can be added to your party—as well as a special dungeon, an original narrative, and exclusive gear and items.
The narrative unfolds around a “doomed castle” that materialized out of nowhere in Northern Hollow. The lord’s sons ventured inside to explore, but the fortress vanished without a trace. With the princes missing, players are called upon to uncover the castle’s location and, ideally, the lost royals.
Upon reaching a certain milestone in the Beginning Abyss, a time-limited event becomes accessible in the Royal Capital Luknalia (it remains active until the collab ends). Here, players can trade a special item with the Man Scavenging Bones NPC to recruit one collab or legendary adventurer of their choosing.
Three Final Fantasy XI characters are available for recruitment: Prishe, Iroha, and Zeid. The three legendary adventurers up for grabs are Red Beard, Arboris, and Glintblade.
Although this particular reward can only be claimed once, participating in the collab through daily logins and completing special missions yields various in-game items, including additional chances to secure the FFXI characters. Additionally, Relic Weapons have been introduced—these are exclusive collab items that can be purchased and upgraded into more powerful versions.
