Level-5’s Yo-kai Watch Puni Puni (also known as Yo-kai Watch: Wibble Wobble) is a mobile spin-off game that frequently features collaborations, with its current Sword Art Online event wrapping up on August 16. However, the latest mini-collab with Rent-A-Girlfriend is a surprising twist, especially given the differing themes of the two franchises.
From August 17 to 31, players can participate in the game’s Mini-Collab Bingo event by completing limited-time missions. Each completed mission fills a spot on a bingo card, and achieving a “Bingo” grants in-game items and Date Tickets. These Date Tickets can be used to obtain the event’s exclusive collaboration character, Rent-A-Girlfriend’s Chizuru Mizuhara, and they can also be purchased with real money.
Given that Yo-kai Watch is primarily aimed at families and young audiences, this unexpected pairing with Rent-A-Girlfriend has left many fans astonished. In the event’s advertisement, Yo-kai Watch’s protagonist Keita Amano appears unimpressed by Chizuru’s arrival in his world. The ad even humorously depicts Jibanyan becoming infatuated with Chizuru, leading to parodies of Rent-a-Girlfriend’s Kazuya crying meme.
Regardless of the peculiar nature of this collaboration, it’s undoubtedly one of the most unusual in recent memory. Nevertheless, fans of both series can now imagine a crossover where these two universes intersect.
While Yo-kai Watch: Puni Puni was once available globally, it has since discontinued its international versions and is now exclusive to Japan on iOS and Android.
