Game Freak recently launched its latest project, Beast of Reincarnation, a post-apocalyptic action RPG. The title quickly attracted over 15k concurrent players on Steam, yet its reception has been mixed due to various gameplay and performance challenges.

Following the game’s debut, before the v1.0.7 update was made available, game director Kota Furushima sat down with 4Gamer to discuss Beast of Reincarnation’s design and initial player feedback. When questioned about the early responses, Furushima stated, “I genuinely believe there are aspects of the game that still need our focused attention. I deeply apologize that certain parts of the experience haven’t met expectations.”

Despite the issues, Furushima noted that some elements of Beast of Reincarnation have been well-received, especially the teamwork-based combat involving Koo. “I’m pleased that the cooperative gameplay of taking down enemies with your partner has resonated with players, and we’ve also received positive comments about the game’s overall atmosphere. The distinct post-apocalyptic setting seems to be striking a chord with many,” he explained.

The director acknowledged that the game requires further refinement and confirmed that his team is committed to significant improvements. The initial major patch, deployed on August 10 in response to player input, tackled camera problems, adjusted parry timing, and introduced enemy balance tweaks, among other fixes. Future updates are set to enhance story pacing, include a requested cutscene skip feature, and add frame generation technologies like DLSS 4/4.5 (L/M) and FSR4.

On the topic of difficulty, Furushima clarified that Beast of Reincarnation’s challenge was designed to encourage players to rely on Koo and engage with the cooperative combat mechanics, rather than just aiming to be overly difficult. Although the game doesn’t explicitly prompt teamwork, its difficulty is structured to naturally guide players toward collaboration instead of relying solely on Emma’s sword and parrying techniques.

While the timing of the next patch for Beast of Reincarnation remains unannounced, the developers have affirmed their commitment to ongoing updates based on player feedback. The game is currently accessible on PC (Steam/Microsoft Store), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
