The ultimate demon YouTuber? Black Channel confirms its anime adaptation
The irreverent comedy about a demon content creator is leaving web format to reach TV.
Supernatural mischief and content creation are officially coming to the small screen. Shogakukan’s Coro Coro Comics magazine account confirmed this Wednesday that the manga Black Channel will receive an animated adaptation as a traditional television series.
To commemorate this leap into the major leagues of the anime industry, author Satoshi Kisaichi published a special illustration dedicated to his readers. Although the production committee hasn’t revealed details about the animation studio, voice actors, or release window, the announcement consolidates the commercial success of this work, which has been publishing chapters since 2020 and already has 13 compiled volumes in the Japanese market.

The long journey from YouTube to Japanese television
This isn’t the first time the franchise has explored audiovisual formats. In September 2020, the work received a short series directly on YouTube, allowing the public to see its characters in motion. Later, in 2022, the spin-off manga Black Channel: Breaking The Wall also had its own mini-series online. However, this new project marks the first time the main story receives the full treatment and budget needed to be broadcast on national television programming.
A demon’s curiosity behind the camera
The plot of this irreverent demonic comedy revolves around Black, an underworld inhabitant who travels to the human world with a peculiar objective: to get interesting material for his videos. Accompanied by Camera-chan, a high-efficiency demon who serves as his personal recording assistant, Black dedicates himself to documenting and exposing the hidden aspects of people’s daily activities, showing particular interest in the hobbies and games that humans prefer to keep strictly secret.
What human hobby or pastime do you think would generate the best views for this curious demon’s channel?
