Zero Two crushes all as the queen of pink hair in anime

Hair color in the anime world is never random, and pink is usually reserved for characters with truly unforgettable personalities. A recent global popularity ranking has revealed fans’ definitive favorites in this category. Crowned at the absolute top is the iconic Zero Two from Darling in the FranXX, proving her impact on the otaku community remains intact years after her debut.

Waifus, psychics, and witches dominate the Top 10

The complete list is a fascinating mix of genres including both male and female protagonists. Trailing Zero Two is the legendary yandere queen Yuno Gasai from Mirai Nikki in second place. To some’s surprise and many’s delight, third place went to a male character: the expressionless and all-powerful psychic Kusuo Saiki from Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan. The explosive Natsu Dragneel from Fairy Tail held onto fourth place, while Miku Nakano from Gotoubun no Hanayome closed out the coveted top five.

The second half of the ranking reminds us that pink hair is a current trend in the most modern franchises. Yuuji Itadori from Jujutsu Kaisen positioned in sixth place, followed by introverted guitarist Hitori Gotou from Bocchi the Rock!. The chaotic charisma of Chika Fujiwara from Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen earned her eighth position, the adorable telepath Anya Forger from Spy x Family placed ninth, and Nino Nakano completed the list in tenth place, giving the quintuplets franchise a double victory.

The eternal otaku debate: The great absences

As tradition with any popularity list in the entertainment industry, social networks erupted in heated debates. While most applauded Zero Two’s undisputed victory and Kusuo Saiki’s strong position as the top male representative of this hair color, complaints were immediate. Several veteran fans pointed out the surprising and almost unforgivable absence of classic figures like Lucy from Elfen Lied and Madoka Kaname from Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica.

Additionally, some design purists debated whether the hair tone of sisters Miku and Nino Nakano really qualifies as “pure pink.” However, the inclusion of charismatic and memorable characters like Anya and Bocchi proved that, regardless of generation or story genre, this vibrant color remains a popularity magnet among viewers.
