Will there be a season 3 of My Dress-Up Darling? CloverWorks breaks the silence

If you were hoping to see the cosplay queen return soon, I have bad news. The team behind the massive success of My Dress-Up Darling just poured cold water on the otaku community. During a recent interview, producer Shota Umehara from CloverWorks confessed that the possibility of a third season is literally blank. There are no scripts, no schedules, and most painfully for the fandom, absolutely no one is working on new episodes right now.

Untouchable Quality: CloverWorks’ Vow

But before you panic and consider the series dead, there’s a huge justification behind this indefinite pause. The producer was adamant that they will never deliver a mediocre anime just to meet market demands. He himself assured that if things fall into place in the future, he would be the first to want to return to the project. Remember the brutal workload of last year’s second season. They had to meticulously design and animate over 200 costumes for the chemistry between Marin Kitagawa and Wakana Gojo to shine on screen. That level of attention to detail is insane, and logically, they refuse to sacrifice it for haste.

A Wait That’s Totally Worth It

All this honesty came to light when the production committee sat down to evaluate the brutal burnout from the recent episodes. The original manga by Shinichi Fukuda already concluded its main phase in March 2025, so material to adapt definitely exists. However, the anime industry is going through a saturated moment, and the creators prefer to do things right. They’ve already shown us that patience pays huge dividends: the gap between the 2022 debut and the continuation was long, but the visual result was crowned as an absolute gem of school romance.

For now, the studio’s slate will remain clean. We must arm ourselves with patience and be content with reviewing previous episodes while executives decide if the curtain will rise again for our favorite franchise.
