¿Un gato fumador? Chainsmoker Cat suelta nueva imagen promocional y revela a su elenco

Forget the typical adorable nekomimi that only say ‘nya’ and eat fish. Here things get a bit more realistic and much dirtier. The voices behind this chaotic apartment complex

A comedy of this style wouldn’t work without voices that can handle sarcasm and desperate screams. And they certainly assembled a crazy cast. The production team released a list of six additional talents joining the protagonist to bring this group of misfits to life in their daily lives. Check out who will be in the recording booth:

  • Yuko Natsuyoshi as Yani Neko.

Sasha Necron in The Misfit of Demon King Academy and Makoto in In the Heart of Kunoichi Tsubaki.

  • Shiori Izawa as Al Neko.

Nanachi in Made in Abyss and Pochita in Chainsaw Man.

  • Tetsu Inada as the Landlord.

Endeavor in My Hero Academia and Sajin Komamura in Bleach.

  • Misato Matsuoka as Yaku Neko and Yurie Funato as Hame Neko.

Tsubame Mizusaki in Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! and Umika Konohoshi in Stardust Telepath, respectively.

A manga that smells like an ashtray and success

All this media buzz has a very clear origin. The Nyan Nyan Factory collective created an editorial monster within the pages of Young Magazine. The story’s irreverence quickly connected with young audiences, to the point that the Kodansha manga already has 11 compiled volumes for sale. Transferring that physical and exaggerated humor to the screen isn’t easy, but Bibury Animation Studio took on the challenge with Taku Kimura in the director’s chair. He’s joined by Takashi Aoshima on scripts and Keiichi Suzuki composing the soundtrack. Pure experienced people to ensure the laughs won’t be missing in this July premiere.

What’s this madness with black lungs about?

The premise is a direct hit to modern adulthood. We enter a world where humans, semi-humans, and cat girls coexist as if nothing. There we meet Yani, a feline with an uncontrollable cigarette addiction. Imagine a disastrous apartment, filled with mountains of garbage, empty cans, and overflowing ashtrays. Every time Yani firmly decides to quit smoking to get her life in order, she miserably fails within two minutes. This light comedy is basically about watching her try to survive day-to-day while dealing with her landlord, a manga artist (the only human in the building), and her neighbors who have worse habits than hers (hello, Al Neko and her drunkenness).

Seeing the level of stress in this building, do you think Yani will manage to quit smoking, even for just one episode, or will we see her relapse spectacularly before the first commercial break?
