Kenji Ozawa, co-director of Visions of Mana, revealed on August 24 that his venture, Studio Sasanqua, is seeking seasoned development professionals for an undisclosed console project. The studio is currently hiring for seven roles, including UI designer, environment artist, art director, lead engineer, lead planner, game producer, and game director.
Ozawa launched Studio Sasanqua in 2025, following the abrupt shutdown of NetEase’s Ouka Studios in 2024. The new studio was created under the principle of “not holding staff accountable for management decisions,” reflecting Ozawa’s concerns about recent industry trends. His firm aims to merge management and development functions while ensuring creators have a secure working environment.
Last year, Studio Sasanqua partnered with CGI firm Glitz Visuals (known for lighting in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Ninja Gaiden 4) to form a business alliance focused on leveraging their combined expertise and facilitating employee exchanges. Although Studio Sasanqua hasn’t officially unveiled any projects, it’s possible that Glitz Visuals is involved in the games currently in development at the studio.
Ozawa acknowledges that applying to a studio without a published portfolio can be daunting, a feeling he shared when founding Studio Sasanqua. Nevertheless, he encourages professionals considering a career change to consider joining the studio, suggesting they might discover fulfillment in “building their own creative space through their work.” According to Ozawa, despite the lack of announcements, the studio is actively preparing “numerous” projects behind the scenes, so fans have reasons to anticipate future reveals.
