Shotaro Kitamura directs the trendy manga adaptation produced by A-1 Pictures for 2027.
The world of fashion is often harsh on those who don’t fit its molds, but this new story aims to break all stereotypes. The anime adaptation of the trendy manga Bless officially presented its first promotional trailer during the Aniplex event, confirming that the series will arrive on screens in January 2027 from the renowned studio A-1 Pictures.
The announcement introduced the main character pair bringing this story about real beauty to life. Voice actor Tomohiro Ono will portray Aia Udagawa, a young man seemingly destined for modeling from birth, while actress Chiyuki Miura will voice Jun Sumisaki, a girl who suffered bullying due to her freckles. Both appear in brief promotional videos showcasing their characters’ first traits and on-screen chemistry.

Behind the scenes, the production features a talented team at A-1 Pictures. Shotaro Kitamura directs the project, assisted by Takayuki Kikuchi. Fukurou Kamiza leads scriptwriting and supervision, while Honoka Yokoyama handles character design and animation direction alongside Tetsuya Kawakami and Reina Iwasaki. The music is composed by renowned musician Ryo Yoshimata.

Written and illustrated by Yukino Sonoyama, the original manga began serialization in Kodansha’s Shonen Magazine Edge in 2022, later moving to Monthly Shonen Sirius. The story follows Aia and Jun, two youths with opposite realities who decide to challenge the fashion industry’s norms to take control of their image. The work directly questions traditional beauty standards and contrasts natural talent with the value of hard work, already exceeding 1.25 million copies in circulation.
