Following the announcement of Black Bullet: New World Order, creator Shiden Kanzaki broke his 11-year silence on X to address the last few posts he had made on the platform and discuss the new light novel reboot.
One of Kanzaki’s final X posts from 2015 spoke of the stress he was going through at the time. The demanding work schedule tied to the 2014 Black Bullet anime (which marked both Kanzaki and his editor’s first adaptation) left him feeling overwhelmed to the point of a “complete meltdown.” While a follow-up post from 2015 indicated he had recovered, fans remained concerned, especially since he largely vanished from online platforms afterward.
In the 2026 update, Kanzaki explained that, despite achieving his dream of an anime adaptation, he had lost direction and felt adrift. His final X posts from 2015 were penned after escaping his grueling schedule, which left him emotionally drained by the abrupt shift—potentially accounting for Black Bullet’s 11-year hiatus. To reassure fans, he confirmed that matters have been resolved and he is now in a much better state.
Regarding Black Bullet: New World Order, Kanzaki noted that development on the light novel reboot had been underway for some time, though the announcement faced delays due to “various circumstances.” Every volume of the original light novel has undergone revisions to enhance readability, with certain ones experiencing “significant narrative restructuring,” as the two elements are inherently intertwined.
Kanzaki stated that new readers would be equally satisfied with either version of Black Bullet. However, given that New World Order captivates readers with its writing, he “doesn’t see much value” in revisiting the original light novel.
Although he considered removing the original light novel from digital stores, Kanzaki chose to keep it accessible since he didn’t feel comfortable dictating how readers should engage with his work. He also mentioned that the original contains an afterword and comments that readers might appreciate. That said, he intends to remove the original version of volume 7 from digital stores, as New World Order introduces a new volume that reimagines the events of the original story.
Black Bullet: New World Order volumes 1 and 2 will debut together on November 10, followed by four additional monthly releases. Kanzaki also revealed a new project titled “The Essence of Evil,” slated for spring 2027. Details about the project are minimal, aside from Kanzaki mentioning it’s a story he has “always wanted to tell.”
