Judging someone solely by their clothing is often a major mistake, and that’s exactly what Kuroki discovers when meeting his new classmate. The animated adaptation of the romantic comedy Jirai nandesu ka? Chihara-san (Are You a Landmine, Chihara-san?) finally revealed its first trailer in video, though it came with bittersweet news: its premiere has been officially moved to January 2027, leaving behind the initial window planned for this year.

The video trailer confirmed the main cast bringing this deceptive appearances story to life. Actress Sayumi Suzushiro will play Mai Chihara, while Kazuki Ura will portray the troubled Kuroki. Joining them is a top-tier supporting cast featuring Maaya Uchida as Chinatsu Iwakura, Tomokazu Sugita as Hibiya, and Daisuke Ono as Kazami.

The series production is handled by studio Synergy SP with direction from Yasuaki Fujii. Keiichiro Ochi oversees and writes the scripts, while Majiro adapts the character designs for the screen, and composer Arisa Okehazama creates the soundtrack under King Records.

Based on the work written and illustrated by Ryon, the original manga began its digital publication on the GANMA! service in June 2021, gaining notable recognition among readers for its unique focus on Japanese urban fashion. The story follows Kuroki, a high school student who, at the start of the new semester, ends up sitting next to Mai Chihara, the most talked-about girl at school due to her jirai-kei aesthetic. Although everyone warns him that she’s an unstable and dangerous girl, Kuroki discovers that behind her intimidating aura and intense gaze lies a rather sweet and slightly odd young woman.
