When it seemed the mobile gaming universe had been fully explored, the franchise makes an unexpected move. MIXI surprised fans by confirming the production of Mera x Death: Shinigami to Boku no Ijo na Koi, a new animated adaptation blending mystery, supernatural events, and an unusual romance set to debut on January 5, 2027.

The story is set in Ouma City, marked by the memory of a massive explosion six years prior that miraculously caused no fatalities. Over the city floats a mysterious orb called the Crystal Sun, framing the dull life of Mera Kagari, a sixteen-year-old boy who feels out of place. Everything changes on his birthday when he meets Thirteen, an enigmatic girl who brings color to his monotonous world as strange incidents begin shaking the town.

The animated project is a collaboration between Qzil.la and studio keel, directed by Kenta Kushitani. Daisuke Ohigashi oversees the script, while Tadashi Sakazaki designs the characters. The soundtrack features intense moments composed by Masaru Yokoyama, Kana Hashiguchi, and Natsuki Hamada, with sound direction by Fumihiko Otera and advisory by Takao Kato.
