Japanese publisher One or Eight and developer Team EARTHWARS have revealed that their village-building action RPG, Warota: I Live Next to The Demon King’s Castle LOL, will debut in Early Access on Steam starting November 13. The game will be available at a special 10% discount from launch until November 20 (23:59 JST).
Presented as a humorous twist on the isekai genre, Warota: I Live Next to The Demon King’s Castle LOL begins with a familiar premise, placing players in the role of someone who, after dying, is reborn into the fantasy realm of Luna. Under the rule of the Demon King named Platinum, the inhabitants of Luna endure hardship, scraping by on meager leftovers from the Demon King’s forces.
Taking on the title of “Bounder,” a rare individual granted the power of creation by the world’s goddess, the player is tasked with rebuilding Luna and restoring harmony one step at a time. As the literal next-door neighbor to the Demon King’s fortress, you’ll gather resources, recruit allies, cultivate your fields, and develop your village.
However, the Demon King, who also happens to be an idol, won’t simply sit back and watch. Whenever she hosts a live concert in her castle, hordes of monsters will emerge and attack your village. You’ll need to unite with your villagers and strengthen your defenses to repel them. Overcoming the formidable bosses will unlock the hidden secrets of the world of Luna.
This game is crafted by Team EARTHWARS, known for their previous releases such as the sci-fi 2D hack-and-slash title Earth’s Dawn and LOST EPIC, a 2D metroidvania depicting a war between gods and humanity.
The Early Access version of Warota: I Live Next to The Demon King’s Castle LOL will feature the complete first chapter of the story, titled “The Platinum Chapter.”
Team EARTHWARS have also announced that after careful deliberation, they have decided to postpone the game’s full release, now targeting a launch window sometime in Winter 2027. The additional time will be dedicated to refining the game based on feedback gathered from past open and closed beta tests. Furthermore, the statement notes that a roadmap for the game will be disclosed at a later time, offering more detailed information on the updates the game will receive as it prepares for its 2027 official release.
Warota: I Live Next to the Demon King’s Castle LOL is set to launch in Early Access on November 13 for PC via Steam. The game will support English, Japanese, and Chinese (Simplified/Traditional) languages. Versions for PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 are also planned for 2027.
