Hiding your true skills to live a quiet life in a fantasy world is often the goal of any reincarnated individual, but things rarely go as planned. The animated adaptation of the manga The Fake Alchemist (Nisemono no Renkinjutsushi) has officially revealed its first trailer, featuring the main voices that will bring the protagonists to life and the creative team behind the project.

In this adventure, voice actor Yohei Matsuoka will take on the lead role as Paracelsus, a reincarnated alchemist who tries to stay unnoticed while hiding extraordinary powers. Meanwhile, actress Miyari Nemoto will voice Nora, a young shaman with whom the protagonist forms a decisive contract that completely changes the course of his modest daily life.

The series will be produced by the renowned studio Passione, with general direction by Takeo Takahashi, known for his work on titles like Spice and Wolf: merchant meets the wise wolf and Wasteful Days of High School Girl. Hijiri Sanpei will handle the project’s direction, while Kenta Ihara will handle scriptwriting and supervision, famous for his involvement in titles like Saga of Tanya the Evil and Ishura. Character design will be adapted by Yuka Takashina, and music composition will be handled by Luke Standridge.

Written by Jiro Sugiura and illustrated by Umemaru, the work began its digital publication on Kadokawa’s KadoComi portal in June 2023, currently counting five compiled volumes in the Japanese market. Interestingly, Sugiura is also the creator of the comedy My Wife Has No Emotion, which had its own TV adaptation in July 2024.

The plot of The Fake Alchemist is set in the city-state of Orichalconia, where alchemy and magic are essential parts of daily life. There lives Paracelsus, who tries to survive humbly while keeping his cheat skills secret. However, his routine takes a radical turn after forming a pact with Nora and rescuing Coco, an elf who has lost all four limbs and five senses. What begins as a simple rescue mission in a craft workshop soon escalates into a massive battle involving alchemy, witchcraft, spatial dimensions, and even the gods themselves.
