The universe of the most powerful slime in fantasy keeps growing, and this time there are double good news. The Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken franchise made two important announcements for fans: the manga focused on Clayman’s redemption will get its own anime, and the fourth season’s third cours has been scheduled.

The memorable villain from the Walpurgis banquet is ready to reclaim the spotlight stolen from him. The animated adaptation of the manga spinoff That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Clayman’s Revenge (Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken: Clayman Revenge) will debut in April 2027. Written by Fuse and illustrated by Wataru Kajika, this story places Clayman right after his tragic end at the festival, awakening in the past with his memories intact to rewrite his fate.

8-Bit will produce the project with Kentaro Sugimoto directing. Yuji Haibara will handle script supervision and writing, having previously worked on the franchise’s graphic design. Asumi Hashimoto and Hideki Sakai will design the characters, and legendary voice actor Takehito Koyasu will reprise his role as the calculating puppet master.

Fourth season prepares its return to screens

In addition to Clayman’s alternate timeline story, the main narrative continues. The production team revealed that the third cours of the fourth season of Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken will arrive in July 2027, continuing the ambitious five-part project that began airing in April 2026.

This installment will keep the usual animation house, with 8-Bit at the helm, and Miho Okasaki returning as Rimuru Tempest. After airing its first two parts consecutively, fans will get a short break before diving into the next political and war arcs that establish the Jura Tempest Federation on the world map.

Originally published in 2013 as a web novel by Fuse on Shosetsuka ni Naro, the franchise moved to print with Mitz Vah’s illustrations under Micro Magazine in 2014, concluding its main story after 23 volumes. The plot follows Satoru Mikami, an ordinary office worker who dies stabbed in Tokyo and is reborn in a magical world as a modest but incredibly powerful slime capable of absorbing abilities from anything it consumes.

Over the years, the work has achieved massive success thanks to Taiki Kawakami’s popular manga adaptation, numerous spin-offs, video games, and high-grossing films like Tears of the Azure Sea. The franchise remains one of the pillars of modern fantasy and isekai in Japanese media.
