The latest trailer for the Type-Moon and Ufotable collaboration, Witch on the Holy Night, has announced that doujin group Supercell and special vocalist Yanaginagi (formerly known as “nagi”) have teamed up once more to perform the film’s theme track “Yoru to Ao” (“Night and Blue”). This reunion celebrates 15 years since Yanaginagi left Supercell and 7 years since the group’s most recent musical release.

Supercell is a musical collective helmed by composer and lyricist Ryo. The core unit includes 11 members, all of whom are artists and designers except for Ryo, contributing illustrations for album booklets and music video visuals.

Lead singer Ryo took to Note to share his thoughts with fans. He reflected on the Witch on the Holy Night 2012 visual novel, where Supercell crafted the ending theme “Hoshi ga Matataku Konna Yoru ni.” During that period, Type-Moon was gaining traction with hits like Tsukihime and Fate/Stay Night, and Supercell was thrilled to contribute to the studio’s newest project.

Jumping ahead 15 years, Ryo is pleased that Supercell can present its latest track since “Love” in 2019, which served as the theme for the animated film Cencoroll. The new song, “Yoru to Ao,” was completed in late July 2026, with Ryo fine-tuning elements such as lyrics, guitar levels, and hi-hat effects right up to the deadline. According to Ryo, this meticulous refinement is the “true essence” behind the band’s revival.

The Witch on the Holy Night movie is set to debut in Japanese cinemas on November 20, followed by global theatrical runs starting January 2027.
