The urban comedy Kochira, Shumatsu Teitai Iinkai confirms its anime adaptation
The story of Kien Aien about young people fighting the end of the world is heading to TV.
What if the end of the world were happening right now and most people were too distracted to notice? That’s the crazy premise behind Kochira, Shumatsu Teitai Iinkai. (This Is the End Stagnation Committee.), a light novel series that officially confirmed its anime adaptation during the Dengeki Bunko Fall Festival Online 2026.
The story is set on a planet already in full apocalyptic collapse, yet society continues its daily life without a clue. Grotesque monsters lurk in Tokyo’s Shinobazu Pond, a giant snail rests calmly on the Eiffel Tower, and a beautiful demon queen walks freely among pedestrians. All these anomalies are clear signs that the end times have begun, but ordinary people carry on as if nothing is happening.

However, in the shadows, a group of boys and girls faces these hidden threats known as the “Ends.” Aware they can’t stop the final destruction and can only delay the inevitable, these youths take up arms daily as if it were just another school routine, mixing the adrenaline of fighting the apocalypse with the chaos of student life.
