Studio Sasanqua, the Japanese video game studio helmed by Visions of Mana director Kenji Ozawa, has announced its entry into the indie publishing sector. Although the studio primarily concentrates on game development, its latest adventure title, AFANTASIA, marks the first instance where Studio Sasanqua is credited as a publisher. Alongside this news, the studio has also unveiled an official English account on X.
AFANTASIA, crafted by Brazilian independent developer noidnoidnoid, is a surreal, narrative-driven adventure game that invites players to explore the quaint town of Tempo. Within Tempo, players will encounter locations from their past and attempt to reconstruct their former identity. As players interact with the environment and solve puzzles, their imagination will flourish, enabling them to relive the memories of others as if they were their own. As players delve deeper into their own identity, they will ultimately face a choice: remain in Tempo or depart for the city?
This collaboration between a Brazilian developer and a Japanese publisher will debut its first playable demo at Brasil Game Show 2026 and the DREAMSCAPE#5 indie showcase in Tokyo, both scheduled for this month.
βWhile some may be surprised that a development company is venturing into publishing, I feel quite the contrary. For me and my company, βproducing a gameβ isnβt about chasing trends but about taking responsibility for its enjoyment and how we present it, free from any constraints,β Ozawa stated (Source: GameBiz).

Although only one publishing title has been disclosed thus far, the official website of Studio Sasanqua hints at two additional new games. Marked as βcoming soon,β the first unannounced title is an adventure game developed internally by Studio Sasanqua, while the developer of the unannounced action title remains undisclosed. It remains uncertain whether Sasanqua will also publish these two games or if its involvement is limited to development.
AFANTASIA is slated for release on PC (Steam). The launch date is yet to be determined.
