Too spicy? Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru! is off Crunchyroll
Passione’s school comedy didn’t make the usual catalog and sparked controversy.
Starting the new season without finding the series you were looking forward to on your usual platform always leaves a strange taste. The anime adaptation of Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru! (Even the Student Council Has Its Holes!) officially began airing this weekend, but to the community’s surprise, the series is not part of Crunchyroll’s simulcast catalog, instead landing on the international service OceanVeil.

The absence of the title from the usual catalog sparked a wave of speculation among users. Given that it’s a school comedy packed with spicy situations and risqué jokes, which in Japan has an uncensored version, many fans began suggesting that the content policies of major distributors may have influenced the decision. However, there is no official stance on this, so the absence could also be due to simple licensing agreements or commercial decisions by the production committee to grant broadcast rights to OceanVeil.

The project is handled by studio Passione, with direction by Naoyuki Tatsuwa. Script supervision and writing are by Masahiro Yokotani, while Ryo Imamura takes charge of character design and chief animation direction, accompanied by music from Tomoki Kikuya. The opening theme is performed by Sangatsu no Phantasia with the song Kaze no Naka wa Hashirukkyanai!, while Akari Nanawo sings the ending theme titled Pi.
In the voice cast, Shogo Sakata voices protagonist Ume Mizunoe, joined by Haruka Shiraishi as Hisako Kotobuki, Miyu Tomita as Komaro Michinoku, Hiyori Kono as Tan Otori, Shizuka Ishigami as Arisu Terui, and Yumi Uchiyama as Satomi Hiratsuka.
About Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru!
Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru! is a school comedy manga written and illustrated by Muchimaro, which began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in April 2022. The series has accumulated thirteen compiled volumes in the Japanese market, becoming a popular four-panel format thanks to its unique visual style and risqué jokes.
The story follows Ume Mizunoe, a first-year high school student whose poor science grade puts him at risk of repeating the year. To save his academic record, Ume joins the student council, where he encounters a group of highly peculiar members: a charismatic but ridiculously shy president, an imposing treasurer, a brazen boy, and a young general affairs officer with the attitude of a stray cat.
