Is it the romance of the year? Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky releases new trailer

Finding light in darkness is a classic romance trope, but this series promises to handle it with exceptional sensitivity. The official site for the animated adaptation of Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky (Tomei na Yoru ni Kakeru Kimi to, Me ni Mienai Koi wo Shita) released its second official trailer this week. The video reveals the ending theme “Hikari,” performed by Yui Sakurai (from idol group FRUITS ZIPPER), confirms Harumi Fuuki as composer for the moving soundtrack, and sets its premiere in July, scheduled exactly for July 6. The project shows great accessibility effort, as it will include a special broadcast with audio description for blind or visually impaired viewers.

The voices guiding this story to light

To convey the emotional delicacy of this story, Studio MAKARIA assembled a cast with extensive experience in dramas and slice of life. Here are the main seiyuus bringing the college students to life in this tender personal growth narrative:

  • Miyu Irino as Kakeru Sorano.

Sora in the Kingdom Hearts franchise and Shoya Ishida in A Silent Voice.

  • Saori Hayami as Koharu Fuyutsuki.

Yor Forger in Spy x Family and Shinobu Kocho in Demon Slayer.

  • Konomi Kohara as Yuko Hayase.

Chika Fujiwara in Kaguya-sama: Love is War and Roxy Migurdia in Mushoku Tensei.

  • Yohei Azakami as Ushio Narumi.

Guel Jeturk in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury and Tetcho Suehiro in Bungo Stray Dogs.

From paper and live-action to anime

The franchise has a rapid success history explaining this quick adaptation. Born as a light novel by Nanigashi Shima and illustrated by raemz under the GA Bunko label in 2023, the work won the grand prize at the 15th GA Bunko Prize. Its popularity exploded so much that the anime project was announced in 2025 alongside a live-action adaptation, which aired successfully on Japanese TV since last December. Now, under the direction of Joe Yoshizaki and scripts by Yuko Kakihara, the animated version aims to replicate that emotional impact.

About this moving encounter

The plot follows Kakeru Sorano, an extremely shy first-year university student who prefers to keep distance from the world. His routine takes an unexpected turn during a welcome party he attends reluctantly with his noisy roommate. There he meets Koharu Fuyutsuki, a blind girl who, in stark contrast to him, is cheerful, talkative, and unafraid to openly discuss her dreams.

The distance between them begins to close when Kakeru helps her pick up her white cane after class. However, the true trigger for their relationship arises when Koharu confides an apparently impossible wish: she wants to see fireworks. Through this desire, Kakeru finds a genuine reason to emerge from his shell, accompanying a girl who cannot physically see but radiates the light he so desperately needed.
