Killers and Wheelchair: The Tank Chair Anime Reveals a New Teaser

The violent story of a wheelchair-bound killer will arrive on TV in October.

The action genre is about to receive one of the strangest and most violent proposals of the season. Studio Bandai Namco Filmworks has just published the main trailer for the anticipated animated adaptation of the manga Tank Chair (Sensha Isu). In addition to giving us an electrifying glimpse full of combat, the production committee officially confirmed that this series will hit Japanese screens on October 4th.

If the premise sounds like madness, it’s because it is. The plot follows Shizuka, a girl who accepts the most dangerous assassination jobs from the underworld, but with a twist: she’s not the one dirtying her hands. The real executioner is her brother Nagi, a deadly sniper who took a bullet to protect her, falling into a coma and confined to a wheelchair. However, Shizuka discovered a macabre trick to bring him back: Nagi only awakens temporarily when faced with direct murderous intent. Thus begins a brutal recovery journey where they must hunt the city’s most bloodthirsty enemies to keep him alive.

The team behind this bloody gem

To ensure that bullets and blood look spectacular, the project is in the hands of veteran studio Polygon Pictures, under the codirection of Tadahiro Yoshihira and Hiroaki Ando. The audio department promises to be a true spectacle within the anime industry, as the opening theme titled “DALALA” will be performed by the famous reggae-punk band SiM, while the ending titled “SYNC” will be handled by talented artist Daoko. It’s worth noting that the original manga created by Manabu Yashiro has been a constant success since its debut in 2022 via Kodansha’s publishing services.

Voice Cast

  • Koki Uchiyama as Nagi Taira.
  • Minori Fujidera as Shizuka Taira.
  • Gakuto Kajiwara as Naozumi Kurosaka.
  • Saori Hayami as Touko Kurosaka.
  • Yurina Amami as Dr. Radio.
  • Gen Sato as Uzu.

Given that the protagonist literally depends on others trying to kill him to wake up from his coma and fight, do you think this unusual and risky mechanic will maintain tension in every episode or eventually become predictable as the fights progress?
