If you’re a fan of old-school romantic stories that get your heart racing, hold on because one of the most beloved shojo gems is finally making its way to screens. The animated adaptation of the manga Dengeki Daisy unveiled its first official trailer during a special presentation at the KyoMAF event, confirming that the series will premiere in January 2027 and air continuously over two consecutive semesters.

The first video preview showcased the main characters in action and announced new cast members. Renowned voice actor Tomokazu Sugita will voice Soichiro Kurebayashi, Yuka Terasaki will play Riko Onizuka, Setsuji Sato will take on the role of Masuda, and Kohei Amasaki will bring Akira to life. They join previously confirmed leads, with Yoshino Aoyama voicing young Teru Kurebayashi and Taku Yashiro as the mysterious Tasuku Kurosaki.

The series is being produced by acclaimed studio Studio DEEN under the general direction of Sota Ueno. Script supervision and writing are handled by Sawako Hirabayashi, while Ayaka Murakami adapts the character designs for animation. Additionally, acclaimed composer Masaru Yokoyama will create the soundtrack, ensuring a nostalgic and emotional atmosphere for the adaptation.

Written and illustrated by Kyousuke Motomi, the original manga was serialized in Shogakukan’s Monthly Betsucomi magazine from 2007 to 2013, accumulating 16 compiled volumes and exceeding five million copies sold worldwide.

The story follows Teru Kurebayashi, an orphaned girl who finds solace in text messages exchanged with DAISY, a mysterious figure she can only contact via a cell phone left by her deceased older brother. After accidentally breaking a school window, Teru starts working for Tasuku Kurosaki, the school’s janitor. Though Kurosaki has a grumpy attitude and makes her work hard, he always ends up protecting her when she needs it most, completely changing her life.
