After revealing in October that MIGHTREYA would shift from a 2025 launch to “the first half of 2026,” solo Japanese creator and ex-Devil May Cry developer Wazen has made the difficult decision to delay the project once more. Although no new release window has been specified, the developer has guaranteed that the additional time will be dedicated to polishing MIGHTREYA’s combat mechanics, visual presentation, and overall gameplay experience.

Even though MIGHTREYA was first unveiled in 2024, the title has actually been in development for approximately five years. The narrative follows Reya, a high school student endowed with extraordinary abilities. Alongside her manager, Rio, the duo streams their battles against creatures emerging from alternate dimensions. By leveraging a trio of weapons and 30 distinct actions and maneuvers, Reya engages in combat against 24 different enemy classifications across 38 stages. Additionally, Reya possesses the ability to fly and execute high-speed dashes, immersing players in the thrill of controlling a superpowered adolescent.

Wazen has made a conscious effort to maintain complete transparency throughout MIGHTREYA’s development cycle. The creator regularly updates fans on the project’s progress through its Steam listing, official Discord server, YouTube channel, and his personal X profile. Furthermore, the free Steam demo is frequently updated to mirror the latest build.

Thanks to this open communication approach, the majority of players remain supportive of the decision to extend development. Wazen’s most recent update on X showcases Reya’s sword techniques and demonstrates that work on MIGHTREYA continues to progress.

MIGHTREYA is currently in development exclusively for Windows (Steam). A free demo version is available for download.
