On June 9, during the Nintendo Direct presentation, Square Enix unveiled Final Fantasy Resonance, which is scheduled for release on October 22.
This game is presented as a return to the foundational elements of the Final Fantasy franchise, incorporating cinematic pixel art within the HD-2D aesthetic familiar from Dragon Quest and Octopath Traveler games. The main character is a knight entrusted with safeguarding the eight magic crystals that uphold the world against a wrathful dark warrior. Players will traverse the world alongside a group of companions and engage in what appear to be turn-based combat encounters.
Final Fantasy Resonance is slated to arrive on October 22, 2026.
